Join us for an evening Information Session and discover how you can make a difference by becoming a volunteer carer for Australian Lions Hearing Dogs! This information session is perfect for dog lovers who want to play a crucial role in raising and nurturing a future Assistance Dog.
With our growing programs, there is something for everyone, with varying time and age commitments:
🐾 Puppy carers, taking on an eight-week-old puppy for up to 12-months.
🐾 Bed and Breakfast, caring for a trainee Assistance Dog (approx. 12 months old) and dropping them off to our Training Centre four days a week (great for PT or FT workers, or busy families who live local to the Hills area!)
🐾 Emergency/Temporary care, caring for puppies or dogs for a short period of time, relieving long-term carers for holidays or health reasons (perfect for those who want to dip their toes in).
🐾 Emergency Evacuation care, being available during the Summer season to take a trainee dog if the Training Centre’s catastrophic plan is enacted (great for those celebrating Christmas at home).
By joining our valued volunteer team, you’ll help lay the foundation for these incredible dogs, who go on to change the lives of many Australians per year as Hearing Assistance Dogs, Diabetic Alert Dogs, and Psychiatric Assistance Dogs. You’ll provide a loving home, socialisation, and basic training – all with expert guidance and ongoing support from our team.

You will also have the opportunity to meet some puppies and dogs that will become future Assistance Dogs as well as the generous volunteers that helped raise them into the gorgeous dogs they are today. They will be available for you to ask all your burning questions about the program!
