CEO Update
Australian Lions Hearing Dogs continues to grow at an extraordinary rate, and along with that comes the development of new roles and programs. Our Bed and Breakfast program has been running for almost a year and has helped us mitigate the restrictions set by the current facility capacity at the Training Centre. Now, we can continue each dog’s training progress without waiting for a kennel space to open up.
Additionally, we are working on the new Psychiatric Assistance Dog Program, partnering with the Department of Veteran’s Affairs to support returned service men and women with PTSD. Our team has also expanded, with a Head Veterinarian joining us, providing vital health and well-being support to our Breeding, Puppy, and Training Program. This will assist us in providing quality care for the growing number of puppies and dogs in our programs.
The Breeding Centre has recently welcomed two litters of beautiful puppies; Border Terriers and Labradoodles with amazing futures ahead of them. On top of that, we have two new fresh faces in our Puppy Team. Both members are experienced in animal handling and can’t wait to bring their knowledge into the program. You can get to know all about our new staff members in this edition.
This month, our team will be busy in preparation for the Lions District Convention season around the corner, guest speaking, and sharing information and updates on our programs at each event. If you are attending, stop by and say hello!
Our Development team is also developing a huge event for November, called Lap the Map, which you can read all about here.
