June 2020 Newsletter
As the restrictions around COVID-19 start to be relaxed around the country, ALHD are looking into the future as we restart our delivery program and do what we do best. Thank you to all applicants who have been patient through these trying times, especially those who had their deliveries postponed due to state borders being closed. As of June 1st we will re-emerge our delivery strategy and are aiming to deliver 12 dogs by the end of July.
With the effects of social isolation being felt everywhere, we have been inundated with requests for applications, putting a higher importance on the need for our new expansion. We are currently finalising drawings with our Architects and hope to go to Council for approval later in the year.
During the lockdown, we have had the chance to focus on other projects, one of these being a new Assistance Dog Program that we hope to launch in the near future. I would like to congratulate Trainer Laura Harris who is the new Project Coordinator for this program, and I look forward to sharing further information later in the year.
It has been a tough couple of months, and I would like to pay special tribute to our fantastic staff who have put in a massive effort to ensure that all dogs are well looked after and continue their training. It has been immensely frustrating that we haven’t been able to get the dogs out to those who need them, but we are hoping that changes soon.
