Open Day 2020 – Postponed

The annual Australian Lions Hearing Dogs’ Open Day usually held in September each year has been postponed for 2020.For a variety of reasons, our annual Open Day has been postponed to Autumn 2021. Held in the Adelaide Hills at ALHD’s National Training Centre, we predict this next Open Day will be our biggest yet.

The Australian Lions Hearing Dogs’ Open Day is our most popular calendar event, seeing many recipients, Lions Clubs and Members, donors, corporate supporters, and more, travelling across Australia to attend our National Training Centre in Verdun, South Australia. The annual event is one day a year that we open our doors to hundreds of people to tour o

ur dog training facility, meet the team, hear our team speak passionately about our work with Hearing Assistance Dogs, and more. There is no shortage of fun, with face painting, sausage sizzles, market stalls and all the puppy pats you could imagine!

Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, our state borders are still closed and we have made the early decision to postpone the event to ensure everyone has an opportunity to move flights, accommodation, and plan ahead appropriately.

In addition to the pandemic, Australian Lions Hearing Dogs will be expanding our facilities in the coming years to increase our capacity for training dogs to support the deaf and hard of hearing community in Australia. As a result, this coming Open Day will likely be our last for the next few years, as we enter a phase of growth and construction.

Please help us make this next Open Day one we will never forget. Please continue to check our website and facebook for updates on dates and the details of the event, and RSVP to the facebook event to let us know you’re coming. Thank you for your support.
